JDID was initially engaged by SoloGrid to provide multiple industrial design concepts for presentation to stakeholders and their prospective utility provider customers in East Africa.

Based on that successful delivery and customers’ positive response we were then charged with the development of enclosure architecture solutions and a complete user interface design, both with unique challenges and requirements. We developed all UI button and surrounding enclosure 3D geometry, tactile feedback specifications, backlit UI custom iconography and text, product graphics and requisite safety and certification markings.  As well we drove colors, materials, finishes exploration and down-selection to document complete CMF package.

JDID delivered on all these aspects of the project while supporting our longtime strategic partner, DT Engineering through comprehensive design for manufacture.

Now, equipped with SoloGrid, East Africans can move from polluting kerosene for lighting and cooking to a clean energy source, which supports a wide variety of electrical appliances and devices, all for about the same monthly expense.
